London 2013 – Ristrutturazione residenza privata

Apartment K

The Apartment K is located in the heart of Bolzano. This is a concept development and interior design for an apartment in an existing building. The lobby area is separated by a generous cloakroom from the kitchen. The kitchen has a dining area and is directly connected to the living room. It can be separated from the surrounding areas by sliding doors. All rooms flow smoothly into one, simply due to the cabinet walls and the central furnace seperate spaces may arise. The parents’ bedroom with walk-in closet and the corresponding open-plan bathroom, and the two bedrooms of the children form the sleeping area of the apartment. All bedrooms have a private balcony. Directly connected to the apartment there is a guest apartment with living area, bed- and bathroom. All the furniture of the apartment are white, the floors in the day and night areas consist of walnut, only the bathrooms are tiled. aAn internal staircase leads from the living area directly on the overlying roof terrace with Jacuzzi.

Schloss Plars

The existing building of the Hotel Schloss Plars, located in Algund, was built in the late 19th century and the breakfast room and the kitchen have been built in the early 20th century. The project aims on the one hand, the transformation of the breackfast room and on the other, the redesign of the south facade and the construction of a balcony. The material chosen for the railing of this balcony will be black steel, taking up the pattern of the existing railings. On the east facade were created several windows to lighten up the rooms. All openings have been designed in accordance with the “castle character”. The redesign combines sophisticated design and historic character.

Hotel Excelsior Gallia

I wanted to create “a Place“ linked to Milan’s history of excellence. A “special” place integrating and enhancing its architectural, design, customs and fashion values. My project wanted to give Milan and travellers from all over the world an example of style and elegance, excellence in its welcome and elegant hospitality.
Marco Piva
May 2015: The Excelsior Hotel Gallia building, spread over an entire lot, is once again the protagonist and an integral part of the magnificent Piazza Duca D’Aosta, dominated by the Central Station, one of the world’s most imposing and spectacular railway stations.
The new Excelsior Hotel Gallia is one of the most cutting-edge “accommodation machines” in the world; designed to offer guests the most efficient multimedia technologies, the most dynamic, spectacular light installations and the most versatile spaces for fairs, meetings, congresses and exhibitions.
Following its almost hundred-years-old tradition, Excelsior Hotel Gallia has been designed to hold really different events linked to the most exclusive art, customs and sports events.
Excelsior Hotel Gallia interior spaces and environments are magnificent, yet fluid. Each special area is marked and linked to the others through a Monumental Portals system made of black glass, metal and light.
Only the central staircase has been preserved from prior distribution of space, renovated and made monumental by a spectacular, 30-metre high Murano glass chandelier: a cascade of 180 light cylinders illuminating the eight floors of this historical staircase. Guests, like “players” on a stage, can move freely along the over one-hundred-metres long internal Promenade, admiring window displays with the most exclusive international fashion brands, as well as stay in the quiet, relaxing spaces of the Cigar Room or the Library, to read books and newspapers or for private conversations, surrounded by art ornaments designed specifically for this surprising Hotel. Along with the elegant Ground floor Restaurant and Bar environments, connected directly to the surrounding Piazza, the Hotel and external guests can reach the magical 6th and 7th floor areas by hyper-speed, back-illuminated quartz lifts to find one of Europe’s most exclusive SPAs, with a panoramic swimming pool. Still on the 7th Floor, the Terrace Bar, with a breathtaking view over the underlying Piazza, and Milan’s most exclusive restaurant, connect to the Multi-function Room with its rollaway armchairs, located under the historical building’s Central Cupola, now a huge crystal room coated with 586 prisms of mirror-finished alucobon. From now on, and for the future, Excelsior Hotel Gallia will be the First Sight of Milan for those arriving in the City, in particular during EXPO 2015: a Breathtaking Sight.

DGI, impero asiatico dell’interior design di lusso, ha aperto nel cuore del business district della città di Pechino nel prestigioso Xanadu Building, uno dei crocevia più trafficati del mondo. Marco Piva’s private home

In the center of Milan, a few steps from the historic “Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio”, the city’s Patron, there is the ’50s palace where, at the fourth floor, Marco Piva lives. A large five rooms for a total of 150 square meters on one level, symmetrically divided in two by the classic central hallway, typical of the construction of that period. The will of the architect was to leave unchanged the original plant of the house. Even the floors of the living room are the original ones : an important Palladian of the ‘50s for the living room, a black grit for the central corridor , and another yellow grit in the dining and kitchen areas. The research, from a design point of view, describe the quality of living through the furniture, from the most prestigious Italian companies. Many, many objects narrow, instead, about the Travel , a theme particularly dear to Marco Piva, who considers himself a traveler even before than a designer: from the Buddha protector of fertility, which dominates in the central living area, that was given to his wife on the occasion of pregnancy, to a Moroccan lantern bought in an antique shop in Fez , until a Japanese kimono in the dining room and some Mexican statues and Thai objects that overhang the library. Each object in the house has its own history, and this history is often thousands of miles away. Or just a few meters , such as lamps and mirrors made by hand I in the ‘50s in the galvanic of his wife’s family. From the colors point of view, the overall interior is light, with neutral walls and furniture that range from white to gray, leaving up to the objects and furnishing details to determine the contrasts. A particular dominant is the red, in the bathrooms and in the jambs of the great portals of the living room and dining room, recalling the Japanese red lacquer . Japan is a country particularly dear to the couple, the portals themselves were carried out using as sample a color of a Japanese bowl purchased during a trip. A house soberly elegant , rich in history but not intrusive, where the best design becomes a scenic tool for these objects, full of emotion and travel’s memories. The harmonious dialogue between these objects acts as a filter and connection with Marco Piva’s world: the place from which to begin, and where to return .
